Facilitation, journalism, and public speaking
I am a trained mediator and facilitator with experience in conflict mediation, cross-cultural translation, and working with vulnerable minorities including victims of human trafficking and forced displacement.
I also bring substantial editorial and current affairs expertise, including as founder and editor of The Arab Review from 2011-2020. My writing has appeared in The Economist, The Telegraph, the New Statesman, The Conversation, and Al Jazeera.
My academic research has been published widely in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, and I have co-edited a number of Special Issues on topics ranging from Islam in Europe to topographies of coexistence. I also have extensive experience of public speaking, including conferences, workshops, lectures, podcasts, brown bag seminars, and symposia.
My book, based on more than a decade of research among Shi’a Muslim communities in the UK, will be forthcoming with Taylor and Francis in 2027.
Consulting and analysis
I have provided consulting, research, and analysis services to a range of clients—including The Woolf Institute, the British Academy, the University of Cambridge, the Good Faith Partnership, the Al-Khoei Foundation, Integrity Consulting, and Crisis24.
I also have experience working in open-source intelligence for corporate and third sector clients operating in Europe and the MENA region.
